“Courage” Exhibit Europe Tour of Fil-Am Sculptor Elaine Antonio Bordeaux Kicks Off in Litoměřice, Czech Republic Celebrating 50 Years of Friendship Between the Czech Republic and the Philippines
The highly anticipated “Courage” Exhibit by renowned Filipino-American sculptor Elaine Antonio Bordeaux is set to embark on a European tour, beginning at the historic Castle Litoměřice from October 5 to 31, 2024. This exhibit is part of the yearlong celebration of 50 years of friendship between the Philippines and Czech Republic.
The “Courage” Exhibit features a collection of sculptures and artworks by Elaine Antonio Bordeaux, who is celebrated for her powerful and evocative representations of historical figures. Highlight of the exhibit is the bronze bust sculpture of Dr. Jose Rizal, the national hero of the Philippines. This masterpiece pays homage not only to Rizal’s legacy but also to his deep friendship with Ferdinand Blumentritt, a scholar, whose connection with Rizal profoundly influenced Rizal’s advocacy for reform and independence.
Litoměřice, a picturesque and historic town in the Czech Republic, holds special significance in the life of Dr. Jose Rizal. The town was home to Ferdinand Blumentritt, Rizal’s confidant and ally, with whom he shared a deep intellectual and personal bond.
About the “Courage” Exhibit Tour
Following its opening in Litoměřice, the “Courage” Exhibit will continue to other European cities, showcasing sculptures and artworks that depict stories of individuals who have stood for justice and freedom. The Exhibit will travel to Germany, Netherlands, Belgium, France, Switzerland, Italy and London.
Opening Reception and Tour Details
The exhibit will officially open with a special reception on October 5, 2024, at the Castle Litoměřice at 3 PM. Guests will include dignitaries, local officials, and Elaine Antonio Bordeaux herself, who will share insights into her artistic process and the stories behind her work. The “Courage” Exhibit will be on display in Castle Litoměřice until October 31, before continuing its tour across Europe.
The exhibit is open to the public, with free admission.

Elaine Antonio Bordeaux is a Filipino American sculptor based in Colorado, USA. With a background in both art and law, Elaine has a unique perspective that informs her artistry, allowing her to create sculptures that resonate deeply with themes of justice, freedom, and resilience. She was named 2023 Most Influential Filipina Woman in the World by FWN. She is the Founder and CEO of Dr. Jose Rizal Legacy International Foundation based in the US. Her dedication to her work in art and law included her in Marquis Who’s Who in America for 2024-2025.
